(נב) וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (נג) לָאֵ֗לֶּה תֵּחָלֵ֥ק הָאָ֛רֶץ בְּנַחֲלָ֖ה בְּמִסְפַּ֥ר שֵׁמֽוֹת׃ (נד) לָרַ֗ב תַּרְבֶּה֙ נַחֲלָת֔וֹ וְלַמְעַ֕ט תַּמְעִ֖יט נַחֲלָת֑וֹ אִ֚ישׁ לְפִ֣י פְקֻדָ֔יו יֻתַּ֖ן נַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃ (נה) אַךְ־בְּגוֹרָ֕ל יֵחָלֵ֖ק אֶת־הָאָ֑רֶץ לִשְׁמ֥וֹת מַטּוֹת־אֲבֹתָ֖ם יִנְחָֽלוּ׃ (נו) עַל־פִּי֙ הַגּוֹרָ֔ל תֵּחָלֵ֖ק נַחֲלָת֑וֹ בֵּ֥ין רַ֖ב לִמְעָֽט׃ {ס}
(נב) וּמַלִּיל יְיָ עִם משֶׁה לְמֵימָר: (נג) לְאִלֵּין תִּתְפְּלֵג אַרְעָא בְּאַחֲסָנָא בְּמִנְיַן שְׁמָהָן: (נד) לְסַגִּיאֵי תַּסְגּוּן אַחֲסַנְתְּהוֹן וְלִזְעִירֵי תַּזְעֲרוּן אַחֲסַנְתְּהוֹן גְּבַר לְפוּם מִנְיָנוֹהִי תִּתְיְהַב אַחֲסַנְתֵּיהּ: (נה) בְּרַם בְּעַדְבָא תִּתְפְּלֵג יָת אַרְעָא לִשְׁמָהָן שִׁבְטֵי אֲבָהַתְהוֹן יַחְסְנוּן: (נו) עַל פּוּם עַדְבָא תִּתְפְּלֵג אַחֲסַנְתְּהוֹן בֵּין סַגִּיאֵי לִזְעִירֵי:
52. Hashem spoke with Moshe, saying, 53. “To these you shall divide the land in inheritance, according to the number of names. 54. To the numerous ones increase their inheritance and to the few ones reduce their inheritance. Each[1] will be given his inheritance according to its count. 55. But the land will be divided by lottery; they will inherit according to the names of their fathers’ Tribes. 56. According to[2] the lottery their inheritance will be divided, whether for the numerous ones or for the few ones.
(נז) וְאֵ֨לֶּה פְקוּדֵ֣י הַלֵּוִי֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לְגֵרְשׁ֗וֹן מִשְׁפַּ֙חַת֙ הַגֵּ֣רְשֻׁנִּ֔י לִקְהָ֕ת מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַקְּהָתִ֑י לִמְרָרִ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַמְּרָרִֽי׃ (נח) אֵ֣לֶּה ׀ מִשְׁפְּחֹ֣ת לֵוִ֗י מִשְׁפַּ֨חַת הַלִּבְנִ֜י מִשְׁפַּ֤חַת הַֽחֶבְרֹנִי֙ מִשְׁפַּ֤חַת הַמַּחְלִי֙ מִשְׁפַּ֣חַת הַמּוּשִׁ֔י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַקׇּרְחִ֑י וּקְהָ֖ת הוֹלִ֥ד אֶת־עַמְרָֽם׃ (נט) וְשֵׁ֣ם ׀ אֵ֣שֶׁת עַמְרָ֗ם יוֹכֶ֙בֶד֙ בַּת־לֵוִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָלְדָ֥ה אֹתָ֛הּ לְלֵוִ֖י בְּמִצְרָ֑יִם וַתֵּ֣לֶד לְעַמְרָ֗ם אֶֽת־אַהֲרֹן֙ וְאֶת־מֹשֶׁ֔ה וְאֵ֖ת מִרְיָ֥ם אֲחֹתָֽם׃ (ס) וַיִּוָּלֵ֣ד לְאַהֲרֹ֔ן אֶת־נָדָ֖ב וְאֶת־אֲבִיה֑וּא אֶת־אֶלְעָזָ֖ר וְאֶת־אִיתָמָֽר׃ (סא) וַיָּ֥מׇת נָדָ֖ב וַאֲבִיה֑וּא בְּהַקְרִיבָ֥ם אֵשׁ־זָרָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃ (סב) וַיִּהְי֣וּ פְקֻדֵיהֶ֗ם שְׁלֹשָׁ֤ה וְעֶשְׂרִים֙ אֶ֔לֶף כׇּל־זָכָ֖ר מִבֶּן־חֹ֣דֶשׁ וָמָ֑עְלָה כִּ֣י ׀ לֹ֣א הׇתְפָּקְד֗וּ בְּתוֹךְ֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּ֠י לֹא־נִתַּ֤ן לָהֶם֙ נַחֲלָ֔ה בְּת֖וֹךְ בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (סג) אֵ֚לֶּה פְּקוּדֵ֣י מֹשֶׁ֔ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֖ר הַכֹּהֵ֑ן אֲשֶׁ֨ר פָּֽקְד֜וּ אֶת־בְּנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בְּעַֽרְבֹ֣ת מוֹאָ֔ב עַ֖ל יַרְדֵּ֥ן יְרֵחֽוֹ׃ (סד) וּבְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ לֹא־הָ֣יָה אִ֔ישׁ מִפְּקוּדֵ֣י מֹשֶׁ֔ה וְאַהֲרֹ֖ן הַכֹּהֵ֑ן אֲשֶׁ֥ר פָּקְד֛וּ אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּמִדְבַּ֥ר סִינָֽי׃ (סה) כִּֽי־אָמַ֤ר יְהֹוָה֙ לָהֶ֔ם מ֥וֹת יָמֻ֖תוּ בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר וְלֹא־נוֹתַ֤ר מֵהֶם֙ אִ֔ישׁ כִּ֚י אִם־כָּלֵ֣ב בֶּן־יְפֻנֶּ֔ה וִיהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ בִּן־נֽוּן׃ {ס}
(נז) וְאִלֵּין מִנְיָנֵי לֵוָאֵי לְזַרְעֲיַתְהוֹן לְגֵרְשׁוֹן זַרְעִית גֵּרְשׁוֹן לִקְהָת זַרְעִית קְהָת לִמְרָרִי זַרְעִית מְרָרִי: (נח) אִלֵּין זַרְעֲיַת לֵוִי זַרְעִית לִבְנִי זַרְעִית חֶבְרוֹן זַרְעִית מַחְלִי זַרְעִית מוּשִׁי זַרְעִית קֹרַח וּקְהָת אוֹלִיד יָת עַמְרָם: (נט) וְשׁוּם אִתַּת עַמְרָם יוֹכֶבֶד בַּת לֵוִי דִילֵדַת יָתַהּ לְלֵוִי בְּמִצְרָיִם וִילֵדַת לְעַמְרָם יָת אַהֲרֹן וְיָת משֶׁה וְיָת מִרְיָם אֲחָתְהוֹן: (ס) וְאִתְיְלִיד לְאַהֲרֹן יָת נָדָב וְיָת אֲבִיהוּא יָת אֶלְעָזָר וְיָת אִיתָמָר: (סא) וּמִית נָדָב וַאֲבִיהוּא בְּקָרוֹבֵהוֹן אֶשָּׁתָא נוּכְרֵתָא קֳדָם יְיָ: (סב) וַהֲווֹ מִנְיָנֵיהוֹן עַשְׂרִין וּתְלָתָא אַלְפִין כָּל דְּכוּרָא מִבַּר יַרְחָא וּלְעֵלָּא אֲרֵי לָא אִתְמְנִיאוּ בְּגוֹ בְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲרֵי לָא אִתְיְהִיבַת לְהוֹן אַחֲסָנָא בְּגוֹ בְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל: (סג) אִלֵּין מִנְיָנֵי משֶׁה וְאֶלְעָזָר כַּהֲנָא דִּי מְנוֹ יָת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּמֵישְׁרַיָּא דְמוֹאָב עַל יַרְדֵּנָא דִירֵחוֹ: (סד) וּבְאִלֵּין לָא הֲוָה גְבַר מִמִּנְיָנֵי משֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן כַּהֲנָא דִּי מְנוֹ יָת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּמַדְבְּרָא דְסִינָי: (סה) אֲרֵי אֲמַר יְיָ לְהוֹן מֵמַת יְמוּתוּן בְּמַדְבְּרָא וְלָא אִשְׁתְּאַר מִנְהוֹן אֱנַשׁ אֶלָּהֵן כָּלֵב בַּר יְפֻנֶּה וִיהוֹשֻׁעַ בַּר נוּן:
57. And this is the count of the Levites according to their families: of Gershon, the Gershon family; of Kehas, the Kehas family; of Merari, the Merari family. 58. These are the families of Levi: The Livni family, the Chevron family, the Machli family, the Mushi family, the Korach family. And Kehas fathered Amram. 59. And the name of Amram’s wife was Yocheved daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt. She delivered Aharon and Moshe and their sister Miriam to Amram. 60. To Aharon were born Nadav and Avihu, Elazar and Isamar. 61. Nadav and Avihu died when they offered a strange fire before Hashem. 62. Their count was 23,000 – all males from the age of a month and up – because they were not counted among the children of Israel, since an inheritance was not given to them among the children of Israel. 63. These are the counts of Moshe and Elazar the priest who counted the children of Israel in the plains of Moav, on the Jordan of Jericho. 64. And in these there was not a man of those counted by Moshe and Aharon the priest when they counted the children of Israel in the Sinai wilderness, 65. because Hashem had said of them, “They will surely die in the wilderness.” No man remained of them except for Kaleiv son of Yefuneh and Yehoshua son of Nun.
Chapter 27
(א) וַתִּקְרַ֜בְנָה בְּנ֣וֹת צְלׇפְחָ֗ד בֶּן־חֵ֤פֶר בֶּן־גִּלְעָד֙ בֶּן־מָכִ֣יר בֶּן־מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה לְמִשְׁפְּחֹ֖ת מְנַשֶּׁ֣ה בֶן־יוֹסֵ֑ף וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ שְׁמ֣וֹת בְּנֹתָ֔יו מַחְלָ֣ה נֹעָ֔ה וְחׇגְלָ֥ה וּמִלְכָּ֖ה וְתִרְצָֽה׃ (ב) וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֜דְנָה לִפְנֵ֣י מֹשֶׁ֗ה וְלִפְנֵי֙ אֶלְעָזָ֣ר הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְלִפְנֵ֥י הַנְּשִׂיאִ֖ם וְכׇל־הָעֵדָ֑ה פֶּ֥תַח אֹֽהֶל־מוֹעֵ֖ד לֵאמֹֽר׃ (ג) אָבִ֘ינוּ֮ מֵ֣ת בַּמִּדְבָּר֒ וְה֨וּא לֹא־הָיָ֜ה בְּת֣וֹךְ הָעֵדָ֗ה הַנּוֹעָדִ֛ים עַל־יְהֹוָ֖ה בַּעֲדַת־קֹ֑רַח כִּֽי־בְחֶטְא֣וֹ מֵ֔ת וּבָנִ֖ים לֹא־הָ֥יוּ לֽוֹ׃ (ד) לָ֣מָּה יִגָּרַ֤ע שֵׁם־אָבִ֙ינוּ֙ מִתּ֣וֹךְ מִשְׁפַּחְתּ֔וֹ כִּ֛י אֵ֥ין ל֖וֹ בֵּ֑ן תְּנָה־לָּ֣נוּ אֲחֻזָּ֔ה בְּת֖וֹךְ אֲחֵ֥י אָבִֽינוּ׃ (ה) וַיַּקְרֵ֥ב מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶת־מִשְׁפָּטָ֖ן לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃ {פ}
(א) וְקָרֵיבָא בְּנַת צְלָפְחָד בַּר חֵפֶר בַּר גִּלְעָד בַּר מָכִיר בַּר מְנַשֶּׁה לְזַרְעֲיַת מְנַשֶּׁה בַּר יוֹסֵף וְאִלֵּין שְׁמָהַת בְּנָתֵיהּ מַחְלָה נוֹעָה וְחָגְלָה וּמִלְכָּה וְתִרְצָה: (ב) וְקָמָא קֳדָם משֶׁה וְקֳדָם אֶלְעָזָר כַּהֲנָא וְקֳדָם רַבְרְבַיָּא וְכָל כְּנִשְׁתָּא בִּתְרַע מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא לְמֵימָר: (ג) אָבוּנָא מִית בְּמַדְבְּרָא וְהוּא לָא הֲוָה בְּגוֹ כְנִשְׁתָּא דְּאִזְדַּמָּנוּ עַל יְיָ בִּכְנִשְׁתָּא דְקֹרַח אֲרֵי בְחוֹבֵיהּ מִית וּבְנִין לָא הֲווֹ לֵיהּ: (ד) לְמָא יִתְמְנַע שְׁמָא דְאָבוּנָא מִגּוֹ זַרְעִיתֵיהּ אֲרֵי לֵית לֵיהּ בָּר הַב לָנָא אַחֲסָנָא בְּגוֹ אֲחֵי אָבוּנָא: (ה) וְקָרֵב משֶׁה יָת דִּינְהֶן קֳדָם יְיָ:
1. The daughters of Tz’lofchad, son of Cheifer son of Gilad son of Machir son of Menashe of the family of Menashe son of Yoseif, drew near. These are the names of his daughters: Machla, Noa, Chagla, Milka and Sirtza. 2. They stood before Moshe and before Elazar the priest, and before the leaders and the entire congregation, (at the) entrance of the Tent of Meeting, saying, 3. “Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not one of the congregation that assembled against Hashem in the assembly of Korach. Rather, he died in his own sin and he had no sons. 4. Why should our father’s name be lost among his family because he had no son? Give us a possession among our father’s brothers!” 5. Moshe brought their judgment before Hashem.
