(י) וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (יא) פִּֽינְחָ֨ס בֶּן־אֶלְעָזָ֜ר בֶּן־אַהֲרֹ֣ן הַכֹּהֵ֗ן הֵשִׁ֤יב אֶת־חֲמָתִי֙ מֵעַ֣ל בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּקַנְא֥וֹ אֶת־קִנְאָתִ֖י בְּתוֹכָ֑ם וְלֹא־כִלִּ֥יתִי אֶת־בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּקִנְאָתִֽי׃ (יב) לָכֵ֖ן אֱמֹ֑ר הִנְנִ֨י נֹתֵ֥ן ל֛וֹ אֶת־בְּרִיתִ֖י שָׁלֽוֹם: (יג) וְהָ֤יְתָה לּוֹ֙ וּלְזַרְע֣וֹ אַחֲרָ֔יו בְּרִ֖ית כְּהֻנַּ֣ת עוֹלָ֑ם תַּ֗חַת אֲשֶׁ֤ר קִנֵּא֙ לֵֽאלֹהָ֔יו וַיְכַפֵּ֖ר עַל־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (יד) וְשֵׁם֩ אִ֨ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל הַמֻּכֶּ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר הֻכָּה֙ אֶת־הַמִּדְיָנִ֔ית זִמְרִ֖י בֶּן־סָל֑וּא נְשִׂ֥יא בֵֽית־אָ֖ב לַשִּׁמְעֹנִֽי׃ (טו) וְשֵׁ֨ם הָֽאִשָּׁ֧ה הַמֻּכָּ֛ה הַמִּדְיָנִ֖ית כׇּזְבִּ֣י בַת־צ֑וּר רֹ֣אשׁ אֻמּ֥וֹת בֵּֽית־אָ֛ב בְּמִדְיָ֖ן הֽוּא׃ {פ}
(י) וּמַלִּיל יְיָ עִם משֶׁה לְמֵימָר: (יא) פִּינְחָס בַּר אֶלְעָזָר בַּר אַהֲרֹן כַּהֲנָא אֲתֵב יָת חֵימְתִי מֵעַל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בִּדְקַנֵּי יָת קִנְאָתִי בֵּינֵיהוֹן וְלָא שֵׁיצֵיתִי יָת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּקִנְאָתִי: (יב) בְּכֵן אֱמַר הָא אֲנָא גְזַר לֵיהּ יָת קְיָמִי שְׁלָם: (יג) וּתְהֵי לֵיהּ וְלִבְנוֹהִי בַתְרוֹהִי קְיַם כְּהֻנַּת עֳלָם חֲלַף דִּי קַנֵּי קֳדָם אֱלָהֵיהּ וְכַפַּר עַל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל: (יד) וְשׁוּם גַּבְרָא בַר יִשְׂרָאֵל קְטִילָא דִּי אִתְקְטֵל עִם מִדְיָנֵיתָא זִמְרִי בַּר סָלוּא רַב בֵּית אַבָּא לְבֵית שִׁמְעוֹן: (טו) וְשׁוּם אִתְּתָא דְאִתְקְטִילַת מִדְיָנֵתָא כָּזְבִּי בַת צוּר רֵישׁ אֻמֵּי בֵּית אַבָּא בְּמִדְיָן הוּא:
10. Hashem spoke with Moshe, saying, 11. “Pinchas, son of Elazar son of Aharon the priest, has turned My wrath from upon the children of Israel through his zealotry for My vengeance among them, and I didn’t destroy the children of Israel in My vengeance. 12. Therefore, say behold, I decree for him My covenant of peace. 13. It will be for him and for his descendants after him an eternal covenant of priesthood because he was zealous before his God and he atoned upon the children of Israel.” 14. And the name of the Israelite man who was killed, who was killed with the Midianite woman, was Zimri son of Salu, leader of a paternal house of the house of Shimon. 15. The name of the Midianite woman who was killed was Cozbi daughter of Tzur; he was national head of a paternal house in Midian.
(טז) וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (יז) צָר֖וֹר אֶת־הַמִּדְיָנִ֑ים וְהִכִּיתֶ֖ם אוֹתָֽם׃ (יח) כִּ֣י צֹרְרִ֥ים הֵם֙ לָכֶ֔ם בְּנִכְלֵיהֶ֛ם אֲשֶׁר־נִכְּל֥וּ לָכֶ֖ם עַל־דְּבַר־פְּע֑וֹר וְעַל־דְּבַ֞ר כׇּזְבִּ֨י בַת־נְשִׂ֤יא מִדְיָן֙ אֲחֹתָ֔ם הַמֻּכָּ֥ה בְיוֹם־הַמַּגֵּפָ֖ה עַל־דְּבַר־פְּעֽוֹר׃
(טז) וּמַלִּיל יְיָ עִם משֶׁה לְמֵימָר: (יז) אָעֵק יָת מִדְיָנָאֵי וְתִקְטוֹל יָתְהוֹן: (יח) אֲרֵי מְעִיקִין אִנּוּן לְכוֹן בְּנִכְלֵיהוֹן דִּי נְכִילוּ לְכוֹן עַל עֵסַק פְּעוֹר וְעַל עֵסַק כָּזְבִּי בַת רַבָּא דְמִדְיָן אֲחַתְהוֹן דְּאִתְקְטִילַת בְּיוֹמָא דְמוֹתָנָא עַל עֵסַק פְּעוֹר:
16. Hashem spoke with Moshe, saying, 17. “Trouble the Midianites and kill them, 18. because they troubled you through their plot that they planned against you, on the matter of Peor and on the matter of their sister Cozbi, daughter of a leader of Midian, who was killed on the day of the plague on the matter of Peor.”
Chapter 26
(א) וַיְהִ֖י אַחֲרֵ֣י הַמַּגֵּפָ֑ה {פ} וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה וְאֶ֧ל אֶלְעָזָ֛ר בֶּן־אַהֲרֹ֥ן הַכֹּהֵ֖ן לֵאמֹֽר׃ (ב) שְׂא֞וּ אֶת־רֹ֣אשׁ ׀ כׇּל־עֲדַ֣ת בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֥ים שָׁנָ֛ה וָמַ֖עְלָה לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם כׇּל־יֹצֵ֥א צָבָ֖א בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (ג) וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר מֹשֶׁ֜ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֧ר הַכֹּהֵ֛ן אֹתָ֖ם בְּעַֽרְבֹ֣ת מוֹאָ֑ב עַל־יַרְדֵּ֥ן יְרֵח֖וֹ לֵאמֹֽר׃ (ד) מִבֶּ֛ן עֶשְׂרִ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה וָמָ֑עְלָה כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ צִוָּ֨ה יְהֹוָ֤ה אֶת־מֹשֶׁה֙ וּבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל הַיֹּצְאִ֖ים מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
(א) וַהֲוָה בָּתַר מוֹתָנָא וַאֲמַר יְיָ לְמשֶׁה וּלְאֶלְעָזָר בַּר אַהֲרֹן כַּהֲנָא לְמֵימָר: (ב) קַבִּילוּ יָת חֻשְׁבַּן כָּל כְּנִשְׁתָּא דִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מִבַּר עַשְׂרִין שְׁנִין וּלְעֵלָּא לְבֵית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן כָּל נָפֵק חֵילָא בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל: (ג) וּמַלִּיל משֶׁה וְאֶלְעָזָר כַּהֲנָא אֲמָרוּ לְמִמְנֵי יָתְהוֹן בְּמֵישְׁרַיָּא דְמוֹאָב עַל יַרְדֵּנָא דִירֵחוֹ לְמֵימָר: (ד) מִבַּר עַשְׂרִין שְׁנִין וּלְעֵלָּא כְּמָא דִי פַקִּיד יְיָ יָת משֶׁה וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל דִּי נְפָקוּ מֵאַרְעָא דְמִצְרָיִם:
1. It happened after the plague (that) Hashem said to Moshe and to Elazar son of Aharon the priest, saying, 2. “Obtain an accounting[1] of the entire congregation of the children of Israel from the age of 20 years and up according to their fathers’ house(s), all in Israel who can go out in the army.” 3. Moshe and Elazar the priest spoke, saying to count them in the plains of Moav, on the Jordan of Jericho, saying, 4. from the age of 20 years and up, as Hashem commanded Moshe. And the children of Israel who went out from the land of Egypt (were):
