(טז) וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (יז) דַּבֵּ֣ר ׀ אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל וְקַ֣ח מֵֽאִתָּ֡ם מַטֶּ֣ה מַטֶּה֩ לְבֵ֨ית אָ֜ב מֵאֵ֤ת כׇּל־נְשִֽׂיאֵהֶם֙ לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֔ם שְׁנֵ֥ים עָשָׂ֖ר מַטּ֑וֹת אִ֣ישׁ אֶת־שְׁמ֔וֹ תִּכְתֹּ֖ב עַל־מַטֵּֽהוּ׃ (יח) וְאֵת֙ שֵׁ֣ם אַהֲרֹ֔ן תִּכְתֹּ֖ב עַל־מַטֵּ֣ה לֵוִ֑י כִּ֚י מַטֶּ֣ה אֶחָ֔ד לְרֹ֖אשׁ בֵּ֥ית אֲבוֹתָֽם׃ (יט) וְהִנַּחְתָּ֖ם בְּאֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֑ד לִפְנֵי֙ הָֽעֵד֔וּת אֲשֶׁ֛ר אִוָּעֵ֥ד לָכֶ֖ם שָֽׁמָּה׃ (כ) וְהָיָ֗ה הָאִ֛ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֶבְחַר־בּ֖וֹ מַטֵּ֣הוּ יִפְרָ֑ח וַהֲשִׁכֹּתִ֣י מֵֽעָלַ֗י אֶת־תְּלֻנּוֹת֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁ֛ר הֵ֥ם מַלִּינִ֖ם עֲלֵיכֶֽם׃ (כא) וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל וַיִּתְּנ֣וּ אֵלָ֣יו ׀ כׇּֽל־נְשִׂיאֵיהֶ֡ם מַטֶּה֩ לְנָשִׂ֨יא אֶחָ֜ד מַטֶּ֨ה לְנָשִׂ֤יא אֶחָד֙ לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֔ם שְׁנֵ֥ים עָשָׂ֖ר מַטּ֑וֹת וּמַטֵּ֥ה אַהֲרֹ֖ן בְּת֥וֹךְ מַטּוֹתָֽם׃ (כב) וַיַּנַּ֥ח מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶת־הַמַּטֹּ֖ת לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה בְּאֹ֖הֶל הָעֵדֻֽת׃ (כג) וַיְהִ֣י מִֽמׇּחֳרָ֗ת וַיָּבֹ֤א מֹשֶׁה֙ אֶל־אֹ֣הֶל הָעֵד֔וּת וְהִנֵּ֛ה פָּרַ֥ח מַטֵּֽה־אַהֲרֹ֖ן לְבֵ֣ית לֵוִ֑י וַיֹּ֤צֵֽא פֶ֙רַח֙ וַיָּ֣צֵֽץ צִ֔יץ וַיִּגְמֹ֖ל שְׁקֵדִֽים׃ (כד) וַיֹּצֵ֨א מֹשֶׁ֤ה אֶת־כׇּל־הַמַּטֹּת֙ מִלִּפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה אֶֽל־כׇּל־בְּנֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּרְא֥וּ וַיִּקְח֖וּ אִ֥ישׁ מַטֵּֽהוּ׃ {פ}
(טז) וּמַלִּיל יְיָ עִם משֶׁה לְמֵימָר: (יז) מַלֵּל עִם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְסַב מִנְּהוֹן חֻטְרָא חֻטְרָא לְבֵית אַבָּא מִן כָּל רַבְרְבָנֵיהוֹן לְבֵית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן תְּרֵי עֲשַׂר חֻטְרִין גְּבַר יָת שְׁמֵיהּ תִּכְתּוֹב עַל חֻטְרֵיהּ: (יח) וְיָת שְׁמָא דְאַהֲרֹן תִּכְתּוֹב עַל חֻטְרָא דְלֵוִי אֲרֵי חֻטְרָא חַד לְרֵישׁ בֵּית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן: (יט) וְתַצְנְעִנּוּן בְּמַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא קֳדָם סַהֲדוּתָא דִּי אֲזַמֵּן מֵימְרִי לְכוֹן תַּמָּן: (כ) וִיהֵי גַּבְרָא דְּאִתְרְעֵי בֵיהּ חֻטְרֵיהּ יִנְעֵי וַאֲנִיחַ מִן קֳדָמַי יָת תּוּרְעֲמַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל דִּי אִנּוּן מִתְרַעֲמִין עֲלֵיכוֹן: (כא) וּמַלִּיל משֶׁה עִם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וִיהָבוּ לֵיהּ כָּל רַבְרְבָנֵיהוֹן חֻטְרָא לְרַבָּא חַד חֻטְרָא לְרַבָּא חַד לְבֵית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן תְּרֵי עֲשַׂר חֻטְרִין וְחֻטְרָא דְאַהֲרֹן בְּגוֹ חֻטְרֵיהוֹן: (כב) וְאַצְנַע משֶׁה יָת חֻטְרַיָּא קֳדָם יְיָ בְּמַשְׁכְּנָא דְּסַהֲדוּתָא: (כג) וַהֲוָה בְיוֹמָא דְבַתְרוֹהִי וְעַל משֶׁה לְמַשְׁכְּנָא דְסַהֲדוּתָא וְהָא נְעָא חֻטְרָא דְאַהֲרֹן לְבֵית לֵוִי וְאַפֵּק לַבְלְבִין וְאָנֵץ נֵץ וְכָפֵת שִׁגְדִּין (כד) וְאַפֵּק משֶׁה יָת כָּל חֻטְרַיָּא מִן קֳדָם יְיָ לְוָת כָּל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאִשְׁתְּמוֹדָעוּ וּנְסִיבוּ גְּבַר חֻטְרֵיהּ:
16. Hashem spoke with Moshe, saying: 17. Speak with the children of Israel and take from them one staff[1] per father’s house from all of their leaders according to their fathers’ house(s) – 12 staffs. (Each) man’s name you shall write on his staff. 18. And write Aharon’s name on the staff of Levi because (there will be) one staff for the head of their fathers’ house(s). 19. Store them[2] in the Tent of Meeting before the testimony, that My word will meet with you there. 20. It will be that the man whom I will find favorable, his staff I will cause to bloom. I will rid from before[3] Me the complaints of the children of Israel that they complain against you. 21. Moshe spoke with the children of Israel. All their leaders gave to him a staff per leader, one staff for each leader according to their fathers’ house(s) – 12 staffs – and Aharon’s staff was among their staffs. 22. Moshe stored the staffs before Hashem in the Tent of the testimony. 23. It happened (on) the next day (that) Moshe entered the Tent of the testimony and behold, the staff of Aharon for the house of Levi had bloomed. It put forth buds, produced blossoms, and bore (bunches of) almonds. 24. Moshe brought out all the staffs from before Hashem to all the children of Israel. Each man identified[4] and took his staff.
