2,900. Making a Nazirite Vow While Ritually Unclean
Hilchos Nezirus 6:6
If a nazir is rendered unclean on the day he made his vow or the day after, his days to that point aren’t canceled. Rather, he completes his nezirus period after bringing his offerings. This is because Numbers 6:12 says that “The days will fall away,” meaning a minimum of two days. Therefore, if the nazir is rendered unclean from the third day on, he nullifies all the preceding days.
Hilchos Nezirus 6:7
If someone makes a nazirite vow while ritually unclean from a corpse, the vow takes effect. If he is rendered unclean again, drinks wine or shaves his head, then he’s liable to the penalty of lashes. If he’s unclean for several days, they don’t count until he’s purified on the third and seventh days, and immerses on the seventh. If someone makes a nazirite vow in a state of ritual uncleanliness, the seventh day counts for him. Conversely, a nazir who was ritually clean and was rendered unclean doesn’t start counting until the eighth day.
