2,898. Losing Days of Nezirus
Hilchos Nezirus 6:2
Pursuant to the previous halacha, let’s say that someone made a nazirite vow for 100 days. After 20 days, the greater part of his hair was shaved off. In such a case, he must wait 30 days for the hair of his head to re-grow. After these 30 days, he observes 80 more days of nezirus to fulfill his obligation. During the 30-day suspension, he must still observe all the laws of nezirus, but those days don’t count towards his obligation.
Hilchos Nezirus 6:3
If a nazir is rendered ritually unclean, either accidentally or on purpose, even if non-Jews render him unclean against his will, all of the days of nezirus that he observed are nullified. He must shave for impurity, bring the impurity offerings, and start his nezirus all over again, as per Numbers 6:12, “The first days will fall away.” Even if a nazir is rendered unclean on the last day of his nezirus at the end of the day, all the days of his nezirus are nullified.
