(כ) וַיִּהְי֤וּ בְנֵֽי־רְאוּבֵן֙ בְּכֹ֣ר יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל תּוֹלְדֹתָ֥ם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֖ם לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם בְּמִסְפַּ֤ר שֵׁמוֹת֙ לְגֻלְגְּלֹתָ֔ם כׇּל־זָכָ֗ר מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה כֹּ֖ל יֹצֵ֥א צָבָֽא׃ (כא) פְּקֻדֵיהֶ֖ם לְמַטֵּ֣ה רְאוּבֵ֑ן שִׁשָּׁ֧ה וְאַרְבָּעִ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃ {פ}
(כ) וַהֲווֹ בְנֵי רְאוּבֵן בּוּכְרָא דְיִשְׂרָאֵל תּוּלְדַתְהוֹן לְזַרְעֲיַתְהוֹן לְבֵית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן בְּמִנְיַן שְׁמָהָן לְגֻלְגְּלַתְהוֹן כָּל דְּכוּרָא מִבַּר עַשְׂרִין שְׁנִין וּלְעֵלָּא כֹּל נָפֵק חֵילָא: (כא) מִנְיָנֵיהוֹן לְשִׁבְטָא דִרְאוּבֵן אַרְבְּעִין וְשִׁתָּא אַלְפִין וַחֲמֵשׁ מְאָה:
20. They were, the children of Reuven, Israel’s first-born, their generations according to their families by their fathers’ house(s), in the number of names, by their polls, every male from age 20 years and up, all who (were able to) go out in the army, 21. their counted for the tribe of Reuven: 46,500.
(כב) לִבְנֵ֣י שִׁמְע֔וֹן תּוֹלְדֹתָ֥ם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֖ם לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם פְּקֻדָ֗יו בְּמִסְפַּ֤ר שֵׁמוֹת֙ לְגֻלְגְּלֹתָ֔ם כׇּל־זָכָ֗ר מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה כֹּ֖ל יֹצֵ֥א צָבָֽא׃ (כג) פְּקֻדֵיהֶ֖ם לְמַטֵּ֣ה שִׁמְע֑וֹן תִּשְׁעָ֧ה וַחֲמִשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וּשְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃ {פ}
(כב) לִבְנֵי שִׁמְעוֹן תּוּלְדַתְהוֹן לְזַרְעֲיַתְהוֹן לְבֵית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן מִנְיָנוֹהִי בְּמִנְיַן שְׁמָהָן לְגֻלְגְּלַתְהוֹן כָּל דְּכוּרָא מִבַּר עַשְׂרִין שְׁנִין וּלְעֵלָּא כֹּל נָפֵק חֵילָא: (כג) מִנְיָנֵיהוֹן לְשִׁבְטָא דְשִׁמְעוֹן חַמְשִׁין וְתִשְׁעָה אַלְפִין וּתְלַת מְאָה:
22. For the children of Shimon, their generations according to their families by their fathers’ house(s), their counted in the number of names, by their polls, every male from age 20 years and up, all who (were able to) go out in the army, 23. their counted for the tribe of Shimon: 59,300.
(כד) לִבְנֵ֣י גָ֔ד תּוֹלְדֹתָ֥ם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֖ם לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם בְּמִסְפַּ֣ר שֵׁמ֗וֹת מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה כֹּ֖ל יֹצֵ֥א צָבָֽא׃ (כה) פְּקֻדֵיהֶ֖ם לְמַטֵּ֣ה גָ֑ד חֲמִשָּׁ֤ה וְאַרְבָּעִים֙ אֶ֔לֶף וְשֵׁ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת וַחֲמִשִּֽׁים׃ {פ}
(כד) לִבְנֵי גָד תּוּלְדַתְהוֹן לְזַרְעֲיַתְהוֹן לְבֵית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן בְּמִנְיַן שְׁמָהָן מִבַּר עַשְׂרִין שְׁנִין וּלְעֵלָּא כֹּל נָפֵק חֵילָא: (כה) מִנְיָנֵיהוֹן לְשִׁבְטָא דְגָד אַרְבְּעִין וְחַמְשָׁא אַלְפִין וְשִׁית מְאָה וְחַמְשִׁין
24. For the children of Gad, their generations according to their families by their fathers’ house(s), in the number of names, from age 20 years and up, all who (were able to) go out in the army, 25. their counted for the tribe of Gad: 45,650.
(כו) לִבְנֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה תּוֹלְדֹתָ֥ם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֖ם לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם בְּמִסְפַּ֣ר שֵׁמֹ֗ת מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה כֹּ֖ל יֹצֵ֥א צָבָֽא׃ (כז) פְּקֻדֵיהֶ֖ם לְמַטֵּ֣ה יְהוּדָ֑ה אַרְבָּעָ֧ה וְשִׁבְעִ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְשֵׁ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃ {פ}
(כו) לִבְנֵי יְהוּדָה תּוּלְדַתְהוֹן לְזַרְעֲיַתְהוֹן לְבֵית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן בְּמִנְיַן שְׁמָהָן מִבַּר עַשְׂרִין שְׁנִין וּלְעֵלָּא כֹּל נָפֵק חֵילָא: (כז) מִנְיָנֵיהוֹן לְשִׁבְטָא דִיהוּדָה שַׁבְעִין וְאַרְבְּעָא אַלְפִין וְשִׁית מְאָה:
26. For the children of Yehuda, their generations according to their families by their fathers’ house(s), in the number of names, from age 20 years and up, all who (were able to) go out in the army, 27. their counted for the tribe of Yehuda: 74,600.
(כח) לִבְנֵ֣י יִשָּׂשכָ֔ר תּוֹלְדֹתָ֥ם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֖ם לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם בְּמִסְפַּ֣ר שֵׁמֹ֗ת מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה כֹּ֖ל יֹצֵ֥א צָבָֽא׃ (כט) פְּקֻדֵיהֶ֖ם לְמַטֵּ֣ה יִשָּׂשכָ֑ר אַרְבָּעָ֧ה וַחֲמִשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃ {פ}
(כח) לִבְנֵי יִשָּׂשכָר תּוּלְדַתְהוֹן לְזַרְעֲיַתְהוֹן לְבֵית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן בְּמִנְיַן שְׁמָהָן מִבַּר עַשְׂרִין שְׁנִין וּלְעֵלָּא כֹּל נָפֵק חֵילָא: (כט) מִנְיָנֵיהוֹן לְשִׁבְטָא דְיִשָּׂשכָר חַמְשִׁין וְאַרְבְּעָא אַלְפִין וְאַרְבַּע מְאָה:
28. For the children of Yisachar, their generations according to their families by their fathers’ house(s), in the number of names, from age 20 years and up, all who (were able to) go out in the army, 29. their counted for the tribe of Yisachar: 54,400.
(ל) לִבְנֵ֣י זְבוּלֻ֔ן תּוֹלְדֹתָ֥ם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֖ם לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם בְּמִסְפַּ֣ר שֵׁמֹ֗ת מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה כֹּ֖ל יֹצֵ֥א צָבָֽא׃ (לא) פְּקֻדֵיהֶ֖ם לְמַטֵּ֣ה זְבוּלֻ֑ן שִׁבְעָ֧ה וַחֲמִשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃ {פ}
(ל) לִבְנֵי זְבוּלֻן תּוּלְדַתְהוֹן לְזַרְעֲיַתְהוֹן לְבֵית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן בְּמִנְיַן שְׁמָהָן מִבַּר עַשְׂרִין שְׁנִין וּלְעֵלָּא כֹּל נָפֵק חֵילָא: (לא) מִנְיָנֵיהוֹן לְשִׁבְטָא דִזְבוּלֻן חַמְשִׁין וּשְׁבַע אַלְפִין וְאַרְבַּע מְאָה:
30. For the children of Zevulun, their generations according to their families by their fathers’ house(s), in the number of names, from age 20 years and up, all who (were able to) go out in the army, 31. their counted for the tribe of Zevulun: 57,400.
(לב) לִבְנֵ֤י יוֹסֵף֙ לִבְנֵ֣י אֶפְרַ֔יִם תּוֹלְדֹתָ֥ם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֖ם לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם בְּמִסְפַּ֣ר שֵׁמֹ֗ת מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה כֹּ֖ל יֹצֵ֥א צָבָֽא׃ (לג) פְּקֻדֵיהֶ֖ם לְמַטֵּ֣ה אֶפְרָ֑יִם אַרְבָּעִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃ {פ}
(לב) לִבְנֵי יוֹסֵף לִבְנֵי אֶפְרַיִם תּוּלְדַתְהוֹן לְזַרְעֲיַתְהוֹן לְבֵית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן בְּמִנְיַן שְׁמָהָן מִבַּר עַשְׂרִין שְׁנִין וּלְעֵלָּא כֹּל נָפֵק חֵילָא: (לג) מִנְיָנֵיהוֹן לְשִׁבְטָא דְאֶפְרָיִם אַרְבְּעִין אַלְפִין וַחֲמֵשׁ מְאָה:
32. For the children of Yoseif: for the children of Efraim, their generations according to their families by their fathers’ house(s), in the number of names, from age 20 years and up, all who (were able to) go out in the army, 33. their counted for the tribe of Efraim: 40,500.
(לד) לִבְנֵ֣י מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה תּוֹלְדֹתָ֥ם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֖ם לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם בְּמִסְפַּ֣ר שֵׁמ֗וֹת מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה כֹּ֖ל יֹצֵ֥א צָבָֽא׃ (לה) פְּקֻדֵיהֶ֖ם לְמַטֵּ֣ה מְנַשֶּׁ֑ה שְׁנַ֧יִם וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וּמָאתָֽיִם׃ {פ}
(לד) לִבְנֵי מְנַשֶּׁה תּוּלְדַתְהוֹן לְזַרְעֲיַתְהוֹן לְבֵית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן בְּמִנְיַן שְׁמָהָן מִבַּר עַשְׂרִין שְׁנִין וּלְעֵלָּא כֹּל נָפֵק חֵילָא: (לה) מִנְיָנֵיהוֹן לְשִׁבְטָא דִמְנַשֶּׁה תְּלָתִין וּתְרֵין אַלְפִין וּמָאתָן:
34. For the children of Menashe, their generations according to their families by their fathers’ house(s), in the number of names, from age 20 years and up, all who (were able to) go out in the army, 35. their counted for the tribe of Menashe: 32,200.
(לו) לִבְנֵ֣י בִנְיָמִ֔ן תּוֹלְדֹתָ֥ם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֖ם לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם בְּמִסְפַּ֣ר שֵׁמֹ֗ת מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה כֹּ֖ל יֹצֵ֥א צָבָֽא׃ (לז) פְּקֻדֵיהֶ֖ם לְמַטֵּ֣ה בִנְיָמִ֑ן חֲמִשָּׁ֧ה וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃ {פ}
(לו) לִבְנֵי בִנְיָמִן תּוּלְדַתְהוֹן לְזַרְעֲיַתְהוֹן לְבֵית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן בְּמִנְיַן שְׁמָהָן מִבַּר עַשְׂרִין שְׁנִין וּלְעֵלָּא כֹּל נָפֵק חֵילָא: (לז) מִנְיָנֵיהוֹן לְשִׁבְטָא דְבִנְיָמִן תְּלָתִין וְחַמְשָׁא אַלְפִין וְאַרְבַּע מְאָה:
36. For the children of Binyamin, their generations according to their families by their fathers’ house(s), in the number of names, from age 20 years and up, all who (were able to) go out in the army, 37. their counted for the tribe of Binyamin: 35,400.
(לח) לִבְנֵ֣י דָ֔ן תּוֹלְדֹתָ֥ם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֖ם לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם בְּמִסְפַּ֣ר שֵׁמֹ֗ת מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה כֹּ֖ל יֹצֵ֥א צָבָֽא׃ (לט) פְּקֻדֵיהֶ֖ם לְמַטֵּ֣ה דָ֑ן שְׁנַ֧יִם וְשִׁשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וּשְׁבַ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃ {פ}
(לח) לִבְנֵי דָן תּוּלְדַתְהוֹן לְזַרְעֲיַתְהוֹן לְבֵית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן בְּמִנְיַן שְׁמָהָן מִבַּר עַשְׂרִין שְׁנִין וּלְעֵלָּא כֹּל נָפֵק חֵילָא: (לט) מִנְיָנֵיהוֹן לְשִׁבְטָא דְדָן שִׁתִּין וּתְרֵין אַלְפִין וּשְׁבַע מְאָה:
38. For the children of Dan, their generations according to their families by their fathers’ house(s), in the number of names, from age 20 years and up, all who (were able to) go out in the army, 39. their counted for the tribe of Dan: 62,700.
(מ) לִבְנֵ֣י אָשֵׁ֔ר תּוֹלְדֹתָ֥ם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֖ם לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם בְּמִסְפַּ֣ר שֵׁמֹ֗ת מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה כֹּ֖ל יֹצֵ֥א צָבָֽא׃ (מא) פְּקֻדֵיהֶ֖ם לְמַטֵּ֣ה אָשֵׁ֑ר אֶחָ֧ד וְאַרְבָּעִ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃ {פ}
(מ) לִבְנֵי אָשֵׁר תּוּלְדַתְהוֹן לְזַרְעֲיַתְהוֹן לְבֵית אֲבָהֲתְהוֹן בְּמִנְיַן שְׁמָהָן מִבַּר עַשְׂרִין שְׁנִין וּלְעֵלָּא כֹּל נָפֵק חֵילָא: (מא) מִנְיָנֵיהוֹן לְשִׁבְטָא דְאָשֵׁר אַרְבְּעִין וְחַד אַלְפִין וַחֲמֵשׁ מְאָה:
40. For the children of Asher, their generations according to their families by their fathers’ house(s), in the number of names, from age 20 years and up, all who (were able to) go out in the army, 41. their counted for the tribe of Asher: 41,500.
(מב) בְּנֵ֣י נַפְתָּלִ֔י תּוֹלְדֹתָ֥ם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֖ם לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם בְּמִסְפַּ֣ר שֵׁמֹ֗ת מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה כֹּ֖ל יֹצֵ֥א צָבָֽא׃ (מג) פְּקֻדֵיהֶ֖ם לְמַטֵּ֣ה נַפְתָּלִ֑י שְׁלֹשָׁ֧ה וַחֲמִשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃ {פ}
(מב) בְּנֵי נַפְתָּלִי תּוּלְדַתְהוֹן לְזַרְעֲיַתְהוֹן לְבֵית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן בְּמִנְיַן שְׁמָהָן מִבַּר עַשְׂרִין שְׁנִין וּלְעֵלָּא כֹּל נָפֵק חֵילָא: (מג) מִנְיָנֵיהוֹן לְשִׁבְטָא דְנַפְתָּלִי חַמְשִׁין וּתְלַת אַלְפִין וְאַרְבַּע מְאָה:
42. The children of Naftali, their generations according to their families by their fathers’ house(s), in the number of names, from age 20 years and up, all who (were able to) go out in the army, 43. their counted for the tribe of Naftali: 53,400.
(מד) אֵ֣לֶּה הַפְּקֻדִ֡ים אֲשֶׁר֩ פָּקַ֨ד מֹשֶׁ֤ה וְאַהֲרֹן֙ וּנְשִׂיאֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל שְׁנֵ֥ים עָשָׂ֖ר אִ֑ישׁ אִישׁ־אֶחָ֥ד לְבֵית־אֲבֹתָ֖יו הָיֽוּ׃ (מה) וַיִּֽהְי֛וּ כׇּל־פְּקוּדֵ֥י בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה כׇּל־יֹצֵ֥א צָבָ֖א בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (מו) וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ כׇּל־הַפְּקֻדִ֔ים שֵׁשׁ־מֵא֥וֹת אֶ֖לֶף וּשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת אֲלָפִ֑ים וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת וַחֲמִשִּֽׁים׃ (מז) וְהַלְוִיִּ֖ם לְמַטֵּ֣ה אֲבֹתָ֑ם לֹ֥א הׇתְפָּקְד֖וּ בְּתוֹכָֽם׃ {פ}
(מד) אִלֵּין מִנְיָנַיָּא דִּי מְנָא משֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן וְרַבְרְבֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל תְּרֵין עֲשַׂר גֻּבְרִין גַּבְרָא חַד לְבֵית אֲבָהָתוֹהִי הֲווֹ: (מה) וַהֲווֹ כָּל מִנְיָנֵי בְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לְבֵית אֲבָהַתְהוֹן מִבַּר עַשְׂרִין שְׁנִין וּלְעֵלָּא כָּל נָפֵק חֵילָא בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל: (מו) וַהֲווֹ כָּל מִנְיָנַיָּא שִׁית מְאָה וּתְלָתָא אַלְפִין וַחֲמֵשׁ מְאָה וְחַמְשִׁין: (מז) וְלֵוָאֵי לְשִׁבְטָא דַאֲבָהַתְהוֹן לָא אִתְמְנִיאוּ בֵּינֵיהוֹן:
44. These are those counted, whom Moshe and Aharon and the leaders of Israel counted – they were 12 men, one each for their fathers’ house(s). 45. All those counted of the children of Israel according to their fathers’ house(s), from the age of 20 years and up, all who (were able to) go out in the army, 46. all those counted were 603,550. 47. And the Levites according to their fathers’ tribe were not counted among them.
(מח) וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (מט) אַ֣ךְ אֶת־מַטֵּ֤ה לֵוִי֙ לֹ֣א תִפְקֹ֔ד וְאֶת־רֹאשָׁ֖ם לֹ֣א תִשָּׂ֑א בְּת֖וֹךְ בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (נ) וְאַתָּ֡ה הַפְקֵ֣ד אֶת־הַלְוִיִּם֩ עַל־מִשְׁכַּ֨ן הָעֵדֻ֜ת וְעַ֣ל כׇּל־כֵּלָיו֮ וְעַ֣ל כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ֒ הֵ֜מָּה יִשְׂא֤וּ אֶת־הַמִּשְׁכָּן֙ וְאֶת־כׇּל־כֵּלָ֔יו וְהֵ֖ם יְשָׁרְתֻ֑הוּ וְסָבִ֥יב לַמִּשְׁכָּ֖ן יַחֲנֽוּ׃ (נא) וּבִנְסֹ֣עַ הַמִּשְׁכָּ֗ן יוֹרִ֤ידוּ אֹתוֹ֙ הַלְוִיִּ֔ם וּבַחֲנֹת֙ הַמִּשְׁכָּ֔ן יָקִ֥ימוּ אֹת֖וֹ הַלְוִיִּ֑ם וְהַזָּ֥ר הַקָּרֵ֖ב יוּמָֽת׃ (נב) וְחָנ֖וּ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אִ֧ישׁ עַֽל־מַחֲנֵ֛הוּ וְאִ֥ישׁ עַל־דִּגְל֖וֹ לְצִבְאֹתָֽם׃ (נג) וְהַלְוִיִּ֞ם יַחֲנ֤וּ סָבִיב֙ לְמִשְׁכַּ֣ן הָעֵדֻ֔ת וְלֹֽא־יִהְיֶ֣ה קֶ֔צֶף עַל־עֲדַ֖ת בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְשָׁמְרוּ֙ הַלְוִיִּ֔ם אֶת־מִשְׁמֶ֖רֶת מִשְׁכַּ֥ן הָעֵדֽוּת׃ (נד) וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֖וּ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כְּ֠כֹ֠ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר צִוָּ֧ה יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶת־מֹשֶׁ֖ה כֵּ֥ן עָשֽׂוּ׃ {פ}
(מח) וּמַלִּיל יְיָ עִם משֶׁה לְמֵימָר: (מט) בְּרַם יָת שִׁבְטָא דְלֵוִי לָא תִמְנֵי וְיָת חֻשְׁבַּנְהוֹן לָא תְקַבֵּל בְּגוֹ בְּנֵי יִשְׂראֵל: (נ) וְאַתְּ מַנִּי יָת לֵוָאֵי עַל מַשְׁכְּנָא דְסַהֲדוּתָא וְעַל כָּל מָנוֹהִי וְעַל כָּל דִּי לֵיהּ אִנּוּן יִטְּלוּן יָת מַשְׁכְּנָא וְיָת כָּל מָנוֹהִי וְאִנּוּן יְשַׁמְּשֻׁנֵּיהּ וּסְחוֹר סְחוֹר לְמַשְׁכְּנָא יִשְׁרוּן: (נא) וּבְמִטַּל מַשְׁכְּנָא יְפָרְקוּן יָתֵיהּ לֵוָאֵי וּבְמִשְׁרֵי מַשְׁכְּנָא יְקִימוּן יָתֵיהּ לֵוָאֵי וְחִלּוֹנַי דְּיִקְרַב יִתְקְטָל: (נב) וְיִשְׁרוּן בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל גְּבַר עַל מַשְׁרוֹהִי וּגְבַר עַל טִקְסֵיהּ לְחֵילֵיהוֹן: (נג) וְלֵוָאֵי יִשְׁרוּן סְחוֹר סְחוֹר לְמַשְׁכְּנָא דְסַהֲדוּתָא וְלָא יְהֵי רוּגְזָא עַל כְּנִשְׁתָּא דִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְיִטְּרוּן לֵוָאֵי יָת מַטְּרַת מַשְׁכְּנָא דְסַהֲדוּתָא: (נד) וַעֲבָדוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כְּכֹל דִּי פַקִּיד יְיָ יָת משֶׁה כֵּן עֲבָדוּ:
48. Hashem spoke with Moshe, saying: 49. But the tribe of Levi do not count, and their accounting do not acquire among the children of Israel. 50. And you, appoint[1] the Levites over the Tabernacle of the testimony, and over all its utensils, and over everything that is its. They shall carry the Tabernacle and all its utensils, and they shall minister to it, and around the Tabernacle they shall camp. 51. When the Tabernacle travels, the Levites shall disassemble[2] it, and when the Tabernacle rests, the Levites shall erect it, and a secular person[3] who draws near will be executed.[4] 52. The children of Israel shall camp (each) person with his encampment[5] and (each) person in[6] his arrangement[7] by their hosts. 53. And the Levites shall camp around the Tabernacle of the testimony and there will not be wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel. The Levites shall keep the watch of the Tabernacle of the testimony. 54. The children of Israel did according to all that Hashem commanded Moshe; so they did.
[1] In both Hebrew and Aramaic, the word for “appoint” is the same as the word for “count.” They are distinguished based on context.

[3] Hebrew: zar. Literally an outsider, it usually refers to a non-kohein. In this instance, a non-Levi.
