2,832. Vows That Haven’t Yet Taken Effect

Hilchos Nedarim 12:12

A husband and a father can annul vows that haven’t taken effect yet and that haven’t posed prohibitions for the woman yet. For example, if a woman prohibits wine upon herself if she goes to a certain place, the vow can be annulled even though she hasn’t gone there yet and wine is not yet prohibited to her. The same is true in all comparable cases.

Hilchos Nedarim 12:13

A father or husband who can’t hear can’t annul vows. A husband can annul vows that he hasn’t heard because when a person is able to hear a vow, not having heard it is not problematic.
