833. The Seder Plate
118:7 Even though we normally reduce the amount of finery we use as a reminder of the Temple's destruction, on Pesach night it is desirable to increase the finery as much as one is able. Even utensils that are not needed for the meal should be arranged nicely on the table for the sake of beauty, as a sign of our freedom.
118:8 The Seder plate is arranged as follows: three matzos are put on a plate with a nice cover over them. On this, the shankbone is placed on the right, the egg on the left, the maror for the mitzvah in the center below them. The charoses is placed below the shankbone, the karpas below the egg, and the maror for the sandwich (chazeres) in the middle below them.
