Psalms 144:15

אַשְׁרֵי הָעָם שֶׁכָּכָה לּוֹ אַשְׁרֵי הָעָם שֱׁיְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו

Fortunate is the people that has it thus; fortunate is the people whose G-d is Hashem.

Continuing pesukei d'zimra, the morning verses of praise

True, we had this verse not that long ago, but it appears more than one place in pesukei d’zimra. Here, it serves as one of the two introductory verses to the prayer “Ashrei.” While we have rendered the word “ashrei” as “fortunate” in our translation, the Metzudas Tziyon tells us that it means “praiseworthy.” This is the translation upon which the Metzudas David bases his commentary. (Rav Yechiel Hillel Altschuler wrote both Metzudos.)
