Psalms 115:18

Continuing pesukei d'zimra, the morning verses of praise

The last line of Ashrei is from Psalm 115. The previous verse tells us that the dead do not praise G-d, but our verse says that we will praise Him forever! How is that possible? The Metzudas David explains that the dead who cannot praise Him are the deniers, who die an ultimate death. Those who place their trust in G-d, however, will stand up again for life. Then they will have the opportunity to praise G-d for the goodness He has bestowed upon them.
