2,786. Charitable Acts for One Prohibited to Benefit

Hilchos Nedarim 7:13

One may act similar to the case in halacha 7:12 if is necessary to build someone’s house, put up his fence or harvest his field. The one who is not allowed to provide benefit may approach workers and say, “Person X is prohibited to benefit from me and I don’t know what to do.” The workers may then perform these jobs and the one who approached them may pay them. This is because he’s paying the debt of the other person, which we’ve already established is permissible.

Hilchos Nedarim 7:14

If the two people – one who is prohibited to benefit from the other – were on a journey together and the one who is prohibited to benefit has nothing to eat, the other may give food to third party as a gift and the one who is prohibited may then eat it. If there’s no one else around, the one with the food should put it on a rock and say, “This food is ownerless for whoever wants it.” The one who is prohibited may then take the food and eat it.
