Brachos 4:4-5

Brachos 4:4

Rabbi Eliezer says that a rote recitation of Shemoneh Esrei is not a supplication to God. Rabbi Yehoshua says that a person traveling through a dangerous area may recite a short prayer instead. This prayer is: “Hashem, please save Your nation, the remnant of Israel. When they stray towards sin, may their needs be before You. Blessed are You, Hashem, Who hears prayer.”

Brachos 4:5

One who is riding a donkey must dismount to recite Shemoneh Esrei. If he is unable to do so, he must turn his face towards Jerusalem. If he cannot turn his face, he should direct his intentions towards the Holy of Holies.
