Peah 7:2-3

Peah 7:2

Let’s say there were three rows of olive trees with two seed beds in between the rows. If one of these trees is overlooked, it is not shich’cha. If one overlooks a tree holding two seah of olives (about seven gallons), it is not shich’cha. This is the case when the owner has not started picking the olives, but if he started and subsequently forgot about it, it is shich’cha, even if it’s a premium quality of olive.

Peah 7:3

Peret refers to grapes that fall off during the harvest. If a harvester cut a grape stalk, it got tangled in the leaves and fell on the ground, it still belongs to the owner. If he places a basket under the vine to catch falling grapes, he is stealing from the needy. Regarding such a person, Proverbs 22:28 says, “Do not move the boundary of those who come up.”
