Maaseros 2:1-2

Maasros 2:1

If an unlearned person (who does not necessarily take tithes) was walking through the marketplace and he offered others some figs, the others may eat them without concern that they may be untithed; if they brought them into their homes, they must tithe them as tevel (definitely untithed produce). If the unlearned person said, “Take some figs home,” the others may not even snack on them until they have been tithed as demai (possibly untithed produce).

Maasros 2:2

If some people were sitting in a gateway or in a store and a passerby offered them some figs, they may eat them without concern that they may be untithed but the owners of the gateway or the store would be responsible to tithe them. (The produce becomes liable when brought into one’s domain and this is their domain.) Rabbi Yehuda also exempts the owners of the gateway and the store from tithing unless they turn aside or change their location (to be able to eat more privately).
