Orlah 1:8-9

Orlah 1:8

Undeveloped grapes, grape seeds, grape skins, and wine made from these things, pomegranate rinds and the calyx (that thing on the top), nut shells and fruit pits are all prohibited because of orlah, if part of an asheira (a tree worshipped as an idol) and to a nazir, though they are permitted when it comes to revai (i.e., they need not be brought to Jerusalem because they are not edible). Fruit that falls unripe from the tree is prohibited in all these matters.

Orlah 1:9

Rabbi Yosi says that it is permissible to plant the shoot from an orlah tree (which is the wood) but not a nut, which is produce. One may not graft berries from an orlah tree onto another tree.
