Bikkurim 1:9-10
Bikkurim 1:9
How do we know that first fruits must be replaced until they reach the Temple mount? Exodus 23:19 says, “You shall bring the first fruits of your land to the house of Hashem your God.” Once they reach the Temple mount, he is no longer responsible for them. If a person brought one type of produce and recited the text, then he brought another type of produce, he does not recite the text again.
Bikkurim 1:10
The following bring their first fruits to the Temple and recite the text: those who bring their produce between Shavuos and Succos, from the seven species for which Israel is renowned, from fruit of the mountains, dates of the valleys, and olives from the other side of the Jordan (i.e., superior produce). Rabbi Yosi HaGlili says that first fruits are not brought from the other side of the Jordan because that is not part of what the Torah called “a land flowing with milk and honey” (Exodus 3:17, et al.).
