Beitza 5:7-Rosh Hashana 1:1
Beitzah 5:7
If a person hosted guests on yom tov, they may not take food home with them unless he granted them their shares before yom tov. One may not give water to “wilderness” animals and then slaughter them but one may give water to “house” animals and then slaughter them. “House” animals are those that remain in the city overnight, while “wilderness” animals are those that stay in the meadow overnight.
Rosh Hashana 1:1
There are four new years: 1 Nisan is the new year for kings and for holidays; 1 Elul is the new year for tithing animals, though Rabbi Eliezer and Rabbi Shimon say it is on 1 Tishrei; 1 Tishrei is the new year for counting years, Sabbatical years and Jubilee years, for planting and for vegetables; 1 Shevat is the new year for trees according to Beis Shammai, though Beis Hillel say that it is 15 Shevat.
