Kesubos 3:7-8
Kesubos 3:7
The amount paid to compensate for the girl’s shame depends on the social status of the perpetrator and the victim. For depreciation, they evaluate the victim as if she were being sold for servitude, calculating her value before and after the incident. The value of the fine is a fixed rate for everyone; whenever the Torah specifies a particular amount, it is the same for everyone.
Kesubos 3:8
When a girl is the age that her father could sell her, there is no fine. When a girl is the age to receive the fine, her father cannot sell her. Until the age of 12 years and a day (ketanah), she can be sold and there is no fine. From 12 and a day to 12 and a half years of age (naarah), she can collect the fine but not be sold. After the age of 12 and a half (bogeres), she does not collect the fine and cannot be sold.
