2,525. A Shochet Who Can't Speak, See

Hilchos Shechita 4:9

If a proficient shochet loses the ability to speak but he can understand and hear and he has a clear mind, he is permitted to slaughter at the outset. Similarly, one who can’t hear can perform shechita.

Hilchos Shechita 4:10

A blind man may not slaughter at the outset unless he is supervised. If he does slaughter, it’s valid.
