The knife used to slaughter may be of even the smallest length as long as it’s not so thin that it pierces rather than slits like the tip of a blade would do.

Hilchos Shechita 1:28

One may slaughter at any time of the day or night so long as he has a torch that enables him to see what he’s doing. If one slaughters in the dark, the slaughter is valid.
