2,441. Nullifying a Fertilized Egg
Maachalos Assuros 15:18
In contrast to the previous halacha, when an udder is cooked with meat, we need 60 times its volume including the udder itself. Since udder is rabbinically proscribed, the Sages were lenient in the ratio necessary to nullify it.
Maachalos Assuros 15:19
If an egg with a chick in it is boiled together with unfertilized eggs, they are permitted if there are 61 unfertilized eggs to the one with the chick. If there are only 60 unfertilized eggs, then they are all prohibited. The reason for the stringency is because the chick is a separate entity. Therefore, the Sages added to the usual ratio.
