2,429. Desires and Cravings
Maachalos Assuros 14:13
If someone eats a prohibited food because he wants it or is hungry, he’s liable. If he’s lost in the wilderness with nothing to eat except for a forbidden food, it’s permitted in order to preserve his life.
Maachalos Assuros 14:14
If a pregnant woman craves a prohibited food like sanctified meat or pork, she should be given some of its gravy (rather than the thing itself). If this calms her mind, good; if not, we feed smaller than the volume for which one is liable. If this still doesn’t calm her mind, we feed her until her mind is calmed.
