Baba Kama 5:7-6:1

Baba Kama 5:7

The law is the same for an ox and for any other animal when it comes to falling into a pit, keeping away from Mount Sinai (when the Torah was given), paying double in the case of theft, returning lost property, helping its owner to unload it, not muzzling when it treads grain, cross-breeding and Shabbos. The same laws also apply to wild animals, birds, etc. The reason the Torah specifies an ox and a donkey is because it addresses the normal order of things.

Baba Kama 6:1

If a person locks a sheep in its corral adequately but it got out and caused damage, he is exempt. If he didn’t lock it up sufficiently and it got out and caused damage, he is liable. If the corral was broken into at night, or if robbers broke into it so that the sheep got out and caused damage, the owner is exempt. If the robbers let the sheep out, they are liable for any damage it may cause.
