Baba Basra 8:3-4
Baba Basra 8:3
The daughters of Tzelofchad (Numbers 27) took three inheritance portions: (1) that of their father, who was among those who left Egypt; (2) they divided the estate of their grandfather Cheifer along with their father’s brothers; and (3) since their father was a firstborn son, he received two portions.
Baba Basra 8:4
A son and a daughter are alike in matters of inheritance except that a firstborn son receives a double portion from his father’s estate, though not from his mother’s estate. Daughters are supported from their father's estate and not from their mother's estate.
