Makkos 3:16

Rabbi Chananiah ben Akashya says, the Holy One, blessed be He, wanted to give merit to Israel; this is why He increased Torah and mitzvos for them, as per Isaiah 42:21, “God was pleased, for the sake of His righteousness, to magnify the Torah and grant it glory.” [This mishna may be familiar as it is recited after Torah study, before Kaddish.]

There are two types of oath, which are four; there are two types of awareness regarding ritual impurity, which are four; there are two types of transference on Shabbos, which are four; and there are two shades of tzaraas* blemishes, which are four.
