Eduyos 1:6-7
Eduyos 1:6
Rabbi Yehuda gives another reason why the Mishna mentions individual opinions alongside those of the majority: if someone should mention having a tradition that goes counter to the accepted halacha, we will be able to reply that it reflects a certain party’s opinion (which was considered but not accepted).
Eduyos 1:7
Beis Shammai say that a quarter-kav (about 16 oz.) of bones from a skeleton will convey tent impurity, even if they come from two or three bodies. Beis Hillel say that a quarter-kav of bones from a single body will convey tent impurity, either from the major part of the body’s length or from the majority of the number of bones. Shammai says it conveys tent impurity even if the quarter-kav comes from a single bone.
