Avos 1:12

Hillel and Shammai received the Torah from Shemaiah and Avtalyon. Hillel said to be a student of Aaron, loving and pursuing peace, loving our fellow people and drawing them closer to Torah.

Avos 1:13

Hillel used to say that one who seeks fame will lose his reputation; one who does not add (to his Torah knowledge), detracts from it (i.e., he will forget it); one who does not study, deserves death (because Torah is the reason for our lives); and one who uses the crown (of Torah) for his own benefit will perish.
