Avos 4:12-13

Avos 4:12

Rabbi Elazar ben Shamua said that the honor of our students should be as precious to us as our own, while the honor of our friends should be like the reverence we have for our teachers, and the reverence we have for our teachers should be like the reverence we have for the Divine.

Avos 4:13

Rabbi Yehuda said to be careful in our Torah studies because an erroneous ruling resulting from negligence in study is counted as a deliberate sin. Rabbi Shimon said that there are three crowns (that the Torah obligates us to honor): the crown of Torah, the crown of priesthood, and the crown of kingship. The crown of a good name, however, exceeds all of these.
