Avos 5:2

There were ten generations from Adam to Noach in order to show us how long-suffering God is because all of these generations increasingly angered Him before He finally brought the flood upon them. There were ten generations from Noach until Avraham to show us how His long-suffering God is because all of these generations increasingly angered Him until Avraham came and earned the reward that could have been accumulated by all of them.

Avos 5:3

Our father Avraham was tested through ten trials and he withstood all of them, to demonstrate how great his love for God was.
