2,365. Meat and Cheese on the Same Table

Maachalos Assuros 9:20

It is prohibited to serve poultry with milk on the table where one is eating because it accustoms one to sin and we’re concerned that one will come to eat them together. This is so even though eating poultry with milk is only prohibited under rabbinic law.

Maachalos Assuros 9:21

If two guests who don’t know one another are eating at the same table, one may eat meat and the other may eat cheese. Since they’re not close intimates, we’re not concerned that they’ll eat together.
