2,333. Salting Fish and Poultry Together
Maachalos Assuros 6:16
If one slices roast meat over a piece of bread, the bread may be eaten because the liquid that comes out is fat, not blood. If fish and poultry are salted together – even in a perforated vessel – the fish are prohibited. This is because fish are soft and will absorb the blood expelled by the birds. This is all the more the case if one salts fish together with the meat of a mammal.
Maachalos Assuros 6:17
If one leaves a bird whole, stuffs it with meat and eggs, and then cooks it, it may not be eaten because the blood flows into the stuffing. This is so even if one thoroughly salted the bird and the meat inside was already cooked or roasted. If one roasted it, then it is permitted, even if the meat inside was raw and the opening was facing upwards.
