2,329. Liver That Wasn't Broiled
Maachalos Assuros 6:8
If liver was cooked without first being broiled with fire or thrown into vinegar or hot water, the pot in which it was cooked is completely prohibited – both the liver and anything cooked with it. One may roast liver with other meat on a spit so long as the liver is below. If one violated and roasted it above the other meat, he may eat it (b’dieved).
Maachalos Assuros 6:9
A spleen may be cooked with other meat because it’s not blood; it’s meat that resembles blood. If one breaks an animal’s neck before its soul departs, the blood is absorbed into the limbs; one may not eat raw meat from it even if he seals in the blood. The proper course of action is to cut the piece of meat open, salt it thoroughly, and then cook or roast it. We have already discussed how if one slaughters a domesticated or wild animal or a bird and no blood comes out, they are permitted.
