2,300. Milk from Non-Kosher Species

Maachalos Assuros 3:11

When a chick hatches from the egg of a treifa bird, it is permitted because it’s not from a non-kosher species. If there’s a doubt as to whether or not a bird is a treifa, we keep all the eggs it lays in its first set. If it lays another set of eggs, the first set is permitted. This is because if the bird were a treifa, it wouldn’t continue to lay. If it doesn’t lay more eggs, then the first set is prohibited.

Maachalos Assuros 3:12

Milk from a non-kosher species won’t congeal and coagulate the way that milk from a kosher species will. If milk from a non-kosher species is mixed with milk from a kosher species, the kosher milk in the mixture will congeal and the non-kosher milk will be expelled with the whey.
