2,298. Eggs of Non-Kosher Fish

Maachalos Assuros 3:7

The Rambam opines that eating the eggs of non-kosher fish, which are found in their innards, is like eating the entrails of the fish and one is subject to lashes under Biblical law. Similarly, if one eats the eggs of a non-kosher bird that hang in a cluster, not yet being separated or completed, he is subject to lashes the same as if he ate the bird’s intestines.

Maachalos Assuros 3:8

If one eats the egg of a non-kosher bird in which an embryo has started to form, he is liable for eating a swarming thing that flies. However, if one eats the egg of a kosher bird in which an embryo has started to form, he is subject to stripes for acting rebelliously.
