2,276. The Kosher Unicorn
Maachalos Assuros 1:11
The previous halacha (about identifying kosher wild animals) applies when one doesn’t recognize the species. When it comes to the seven species of kosher wild animal mentioned in the Torah, if one recognizes the species, he may eat its fat and must cover its blood even if it doesn’t have any horns on it.
Maachalos Assuros 1:12
The wild ox is a domesticated animal. The keresh (presumably a type of antelope) is a (kosher) wild animal even though it only has one horn. If there’s ever a doubt as to whether an animal is domesticated or wild, the fats are prohibited but one is not lashed for eating them, and its blood must be covered.
