1,636. No Male Heirs

Hilchos Ishus 20:8

If a man has no sons, his estate is divided equally among his daughters. Even if he married off his older daughters in his lifetime (and therefore paid their dowries), his younger daughters are not given dowries before dividing the estate.

Hilchos Ishus 20:9

Let’s say that a man dies, leaving behind two daughters and a son; the older daughter receives one-tenth of the estate for her dowry, the son dies before the younger daughter receives her dowry, and the two daughters inherit the entire estate. In such a case, the younger sister is not given one-tenth of the estate as a dowry. Rather, the estate is divided equally between the sisters, the older sister retaining the one-tenth she already received as a dowry.
