3,936. What the Maamados Read

Hilchos Klei HaMikdash 6:6

They read in the Torah from the creation account. On the first day, they read “In the beginning” and “Let there be a firmament.” On the second day, they read “Let there be a firmament” and “Let there be gathered.” On the third day, they read “Let there be gathered” and “Let there be lights.” On the fourth day, they read “Let there be lights” and “Let the waters swarm.” On the fifth day, they read “Let the waters swarm” and “Let the earth bring forth.” On the sixth day, they read “Let the earth bring forth” and “They were completed.”

Hilchos Klei HaMikdash 6:7

A large section would be read by two members of the maamad and a small section by one. The two sections that were read in the morning were read from a sefer Toran again during the special extra service and then recited by heart at Mincha.
