3,766. Not Facilitating Others' Violation of Shemittah

Hilchos Shemittah v’Yoveil 8:1

Just like it’s prohibited to work the land during shemittah, it’s likewise prohibited to encourage other Jews doing so or to sell them farm implements. This is because it’s prohibited to facilitate others in wrongdoing.

Hilchos Shemittah v’Yoveil 8:2

During shemittah, craftsmen may not sell the following tools to someone who is suspected of working the land: a plow and its accessories, a yoke, a pitchfork and a pick. The general rule is that any tool that is used exclusively for a labor that is prohibited during shemittah may not be sold to a person who is suspected of working the land. If a tool could be used for a prohibited type of work or for a permitted type of work, one may sell it to a person suspected of violating the laws of the shemittah.
