3,767. Selling Tools That Might Be Used to Violate Shemittah

Hilchos Shemittah v’Yoveil 8:3

Pursuant to the previous halacha, one may sell a sickle or a wagon and its accessories to a person who is suspected of violating the laws of the shemittah. This is because he might reap or transport only a small volume of produce, which is permitted. However, if he reaps as farmhands normally do, or if he transports all of his field’s produce, it is prohibited.

Hilchos Shemittah v’Yoveil 8:4

One may sell any tool to a person who is not suspected of violating the laws of the shemittah, even if the tool is used exclusively for labor that is prohibited during shemittah. No conditions are necessary because he might be buying the tool during shemittah for use after shemittah.
