1,139. Bending Down Near an Idol

167:9 If one has a thorn in his foot or if he dropped some coins in front of an idol, he may not bend over to remove the thorn or to pick up the coins because it will appear as if he is bowing to the idol. This is prohibited even if there are no witnesses unless one sits, or turns his back or side towards the idol before picking them up.

167:10 Some authorities prohibit lending money to those who will use it to build a house of idolatry, or to buy jewelry for it or for its servants. All the more so, it's prohibited to sell them objects used in service of the idol; one who refrains from this will prosper. One may not bind non-Jewish books except the books of their judges and scribes. If one is concerned that refusal will create animosity, he may do so, minimizing things to whatever degree possible.
