1,138. Enjoying an Idol's Ornaments

167:7 It's forbidden to gaze at an idol or its ornaments as per Leviticus 19:4, "do not turn to idols." One must distance himself four cubits from a house of idolatry, and certainly from the idol itself, in order not to pass by there. One may not listen to the music or smell the incense of idols. If one hears the music or smells the incense passively, he should try to ignore them.

167:8 If one sees a standing house of idolatry, he should recite Mishlei 15:25, "G-d will uproot the house of the haughty." If he sees a destroyed house of idolatry, he should recite Psalms 94:1, "Hashem is a G-d of vengeance. G-d of vengeance, reveal Yourself!"
