2,928. Animals Put Aside by a Non-Nazir

Hilchos Nezirus 9:7

If someone says, “This money is for my burnt offering and what’s left from that is for my nezirus offering,” after which he dies, the money for the burnt offering is used for a burnt offering and the surplus is used towards freewill offerings.

Hilchos Nezirus 9:8

Let’s say that someone thought he was obligated in nezirus. He put animals aside for his offerings, after which he asked a Torah scholar, who told him that he didn’t make a proper vow and wasn’t bound by nezirus. In such a case, the offerings he put aside are sent to graze with the rest of the herd. Such animals were sanctified mistakenly so the sanctification was ineffective. This will be addressed IY”H when we get to Hilchos Arachin.
