2,926. Undesignated Funds

Hilchos Nezirus 9:3

Let’s say that someone put money aside for nezirus offerings and then he died. If the money wasn’t earmarked for specific offerings, it’s used for freewill offerings. If it was earmarked for specific offerings, the money designated for the burnt offering is used for a burnt offering. The money designated for the sin offering is brought to the Dead Sea (i.e., destroyed). The money designated for the peace offering is used for a peace offering. This offering may be eaten for one day (rather than two) and it doesn’t require bread (as the peace offering of a nazir does).

Hilchos Nezirus 9:4

“Undesignated funds” means that the nazir put money aside for bringing his offerings without saying anything. If he said, “This is for my obligation,” then it’s like this money was earmarked. It goes without saying that if he says, “This is for my burnt offering, my sin offering and my peace offering,” then the money is considered earmarked.
