2,259. Marrying a Kohein's Daughter
Hilchos Issurei Biah 21:30
A man shouldn’t marry a woman from a family established on three occasions to have leprosy.
Hilchos Issurei Biah 21:31
If a woman was married to two men who both died, she shouldn’t marry a third but if she did, they need not be separated. Even if he only betrothed her, he may follow through with the marriage. An unlearned Yisroel (Israelite) shouldn’t marry a kohein’s daughter as this is not honor for Aaron’s progeny. The Sages say that such a marriage doesn’t bode well: they might die childless, one of them might die soon after, or they won’t get along. A Torah scholar marrying a kohein’s daughter, however, is desirable and praiseworthy as it combines the Torah with the priesthood.
