2,153. Intermarriages Between Amon and Egypt
Hilchos Issurei Biah 12:20
If an Egyptian woman converts while pregnant, her son is the second generation. If a second-generation Egyptian man marries a first-generation Egyptian woman, or vice versa, their offspring is considered second generation. We see from Deuteronomy 23:9 (“Children born to them…”) that the determination is based on birth.
Hilchos Issurei Biah 12:21
If an Amonite man marries an Egyptian woman, their children are considered Amonites. If an Egyptian man marries an Amonite woman, their children are considered Egyptians. The general rule is that the nationality of non-Jewish nations is determined by the father. Once they convert, their children’s status is determined by the parent with the lesser status.
