2,152. Converts from Amon and Moav

Hilchos Issurei Biah 12:18

Pursuant to the previous halacha, one is not permitted ever to marry an Amonite or a Moabite. This only applies to the men of these nations, not the women, as per Deuteronomy 23:4, “An Amonite and a Moabite may not enter the congregation of God.” It is a law communicated to Moshe at Sinai that this refers only to a male Amonite and Moabite (as opposed to an Amonitess or Moabitess). These men may never marry someone born Jewish, even down through their son’s grandson ad infinitum. An Amonite or Moabite woman, however, may marry in immediately just like converts from other nations.

Hilchos Issurei Biah 12:19

An Egyptian or Edomite convert may not marry into the general Jewish marriage pool for the first two generations; this applies to both the men and the women. The third generation is permitted as per Deuteronomy 23:9, “Children born to them…. (may enter in the third generation).”
