2,004. Drinking the Water

Hilchos Sotah 3:14

The whole time that the kohein uncovers the woman’s hair and puts the measure of flour in her hands, he should hold the vessel of water in his hand and show it to her, as per Numbers 5:18, “The bitter curse waters shall be in the hand of the kohein.”

Hilchos Sotah 3:15

Next, the kohein gives the woman the water to drink. After she drinks, he takes the Temple vessel containing the flour offering and puts it in her hands. He puts his hands below hers and waves the offering to the east, as was the case with all flour offerings. He brings it back and forth, up and down, and then to the horn on the southwest corner of the altar. Again, this is procedure followed in the case of all private flour offerings. The kohein would then take a fistful of the flour and offer it on the fire; the rest would be eaten by the kohanim.
