541. Kaddish Before Maftir

79:1 Half-Kaddish is recited before Maftir is called to the Torah. The Torah from which we just read and the one from which Maftir will be read (when it is read from a second scroll) should both be on the bimah while Kaddish is recited. On a day when we read from three Torah scrolls, only the latter two need be placed on the bimah; the first does not.

79:2 The one called for Maftir should not begin the brachos on the haftarah until the Torah has been rolled closed and dressed in its mantle.
