4,160. Cooking Sacrificial and Secular Food Together
Hilchos Maasei Hakarbanos 8:17
If sacrificial meat touched a cake and its taste was absorbed in part of it, the cake is not entirely sanctified. Rather, one cuts off the part in which the flavor was absorbed.
Hilchos Maasei Hakarbanos 8:18
We now discuss a vessel in which sacrificial food and secular food were cooked together, or in which sacrifices of higher sanctity were cooked with sacrifices of lesser sanctity. If there is enough sacrificial food to transmit its taste, the whole mixture must be eaten according to the rules of the more stringent item. The vessel must likewise be washed and rinsed according to the rules of the more stringent item. If it didn’t transmit its taste, then the item of the lenient kind need not be eaten as per the rules of the more stringent. In such a case, the lenient item is not like the stringent item in any way, though the vessel must be washed and rinsed (as per the protocol of the stringent item).
