There were multiple copies of all the Temple utensils so that if the original was rendered ritually unclean, a replacement could be used in its place.

The official in charge of the kohanic garments was involved with the preparing and weaving of the garments of the regular kohanim and those of the Kohein Gadol. Everything necessary for these was his jurisdiction. There was a chamber for him in the Temple.
